Let us have a brief overview of the SSC and Bank PO examinations:

SSC or Staff Selection Commission

SSC or Staff Selection Commission is a Government of India body which conducts exams every year to recruit candidates for various government posts. These posts are categorized into two groups namely Group B and Group C.

Group B includes posts for Assistant for Ministry and other government offices, Assistant Section Officer, Inspector in various departments, Assistant Enforcement Officer, Divisional Accountant, Statistical Investigator Group II and Assistant Audit Officer.

Group C includes posts for Auditor, Accountant/Junior Accountant, Tax Assistant, Compiler and Sub Inspector in various departments.

Process of SSC CGL: SSC CGL or Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level exam has a three tier process of selection:

Tier1: It consists of an Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions Written Examination which is basically to screen the students. A particular cut off is set above which the students are considered as screened in. The marks of the Tier 1 paper are added during the formation of final merit list.

Tier 2: It consists of an Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions Written Examination. It consists of three examinations. The first two papers are compulsory for all the candidates. There is a choice for the third one which is applicable only for those who have applied for the posts of Statistical Investigator Gr. II & Compiler.

Tier 3: Tier 3 consists of a set of different tests which constitutes of the following:
Personality Test or Personal Interview: This test is applicable only for Grade A Post Candidates.
Computer Proficiency Test: This is another qualifying test in this series for the candidates who have applied for the post of Assistants of CSS.
There is another Skill Test for the posts like Tax Assistants (in Central Excise & Income Tax).
Document Verification: After all these processes, the last process is the document verification process where all the required documents are verified. If any candidate is unable to produce the documents at the time of verification, then his/her candidature may or may not be cancelled.

Syllabus of SSC CGL:

Tier 1 Syllabus: In tier 1 examination there are total of 200 questions with 4 sections. Each section contains 50 questions for English, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness.

Timings of Tier 1 exam is 2 hours.

Note: Each question carries 1 mark each and there is 0.25 mark deduction for every wrong answer.

Tier 2 Syllabus: In tier 2 exam there are total of 200 questions with 2 sections.

Section 1 consists of English with 100 objective type multiple choice questions. 1 mark is awarded for each correct answer and 0.25 mark is deducted for every negative answer.

Section 2 consists of Quantitative Aptitude with 100 objective type multiple choice questions. 2 marks are awarded for each correct answer and 0.5 mark is deducted for every negative answer.

Process of Bank PO Exam:

To become Probationary Officer (PO) in bank, you have to follow a three phase selection process described as follows:

Phase 1: It consists of a preliminary test of 100 objective type multiple choice questions. You will get a total of 1 hour to complete these questions. 1 mark will be awarded for every right response and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every negative answer. In this test the candidates are shortlisted and these shortlisted candidates are eligible for the phase 2 selection round.

Phase 2: Phase 2 consists of 2 tests i.e. Objective and Descriptive Test which are to be taken online.

Objective Test: It is a two hour test with a total of 200 questions with 1 mark each. 200 questions are divided into 4 sections with 50 questions each.

Descriptive Test: It is test of 50 marks to test your English. You need to write a letter or an Paragraph immediately after the first objective test is over.

Phase 3: Phase 3 consists of a Group Discussion of 20 marks and personal interview of 30 marks.

Syllabus of Bank PO Exam:

Phase 1 Syllabus: Phase 1 consists of 100 questions and 3 sections. 30 questions consist of English Language test, 35 questions of Quantitative Aptitude and 35 questions of Reasoning Ability.

Phase 2 Syllabus: It consists of 4sections of 50 questions each for the test of
a) English Language (Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc.)
b) General Awareness, Marketing &Computers
c) Data Analysis & Interpretation
d) Reasoning (High Level)
